Highway Dept request in regards to the upcoming snow plow season

Article 1219 of the New York State Vehicle Traffic Law prohibits plowing, shoveling, or blowing snow onto the roads. This law also covers other items likely to pose a hazard to motorists including glass, nails, wire, cans, etc. The law also stipulates that anyone that places any material which interferes with the safe use of the roads to remove it immediately. If you are a homeowner and hire a person to plow your driveway, and permit him to plow snow into the road you could be cited under this law which may include a fine. Please be mindful of where snow is placed in the coming months. Thank you.
